JONE-14

Driving the silver spike at Owenyo, October 18, 1910. The Inyo Good Road Club and the citizens of Lone Pine sponsored the celebration commemorating the completion of the standard gauge line between Mojave and Owenyo, at which point it connected with the "Slim Princess," as the narrow (3 ft.) gauge railroad was affectionately called. The spike was made from bullion from nearby Inyo mines. [2010.29.400 VTM] (Jones 14)
